There is a third compilation mode: plugins. You can compile a .mog file into a shared library (.dylib on macOS, .so on Linux) instead of a standalone executable. The host loads the library at runtime with dlopen, queries what functions are available, and calls them by name. Functions marked pub in the source become exported symbols; everything else gets internal linkage and is invisible to the loader.
